My favorate Asian homosexual pairing is Oda Nobunaga and Mori Ranmaru. Nobunaga was a warlord who united Japan into a single nation in the 16th century. Ranmaru was his young manservant whom Nobunaga's wife No treated like a son. Although given samurai attitudes towards homosexuality, it's likely neither of them were actually gay. Rather it was a matter of Ranmaru's beauty enticing Nobunaga, and Ranmaru's loyalty towards his master being so great that he would not resist his sexual advances.

Thanks for the posting. This kind of information is valuable to both the API community and its LGBTQ members 'cos most API immigrant communities think that gay is a western thing. I am in a PhD program and has planned to examine the Chinese history of queer people with the religious lenses. Your work has really been encouraging to me as I can experience the value of the research of this field.
