I’m old enough to have grown up with “transgendered”, and most of my experience of this drama has been watching teenagers on tumblr attack older trans folks for having the “wrong” self-identification about their gender, which I feel is an experience most trans folks were already pretty adequately supplied with.

It’s been really frustrating watching GLAAD (and transstudent.org) put out infographics about this, which well-meaning people repost and signal-boost without ever once stopping to ask whether the claims make any sense.
